Taking my baby hedgehog on a trip. how do i bring her cage and everything she needs for a long car ride?

she has a large cage with pine sheddings, that i dont want to get everywhere in the car. i was thinking of keeping her in a box with sheddings in it for the car ride, cleaning her cage out before i leave, and just bringing the sheddings and everything to put in there once we are where we need to be. the car ride is about 12-14 hours. Bicycle rear brake problems?

Hey guys, I would like to begin this by stating that I don't know bicycle terms very well, so if I'm using the wrong terms, please bare with me. Okay so I have a crappy mongoose mountain bike. Me and my friends found a trail to go riding at. The trail has alot of twists and turns, and most of the path is covered with pine-straw, which brings along problems for me. Because I didn't have back brakes, I couldn't take sharp turns very fast. I was having to use front brakes, which was very dificult because on pine-straw, the front wheel doesn't even have to lock up to lose traction. Thats why I need my back brake. The brake hasn't been working for a few months now, but it was never really that necessary up until about now. I don't want to take it to a bike shop. I believe the problem is that the brake line doesn't have enough tension, so I tried to fix that. On the rear brake, I pulled the brake line very tight, but that caused both of the brake pads to press up against the wheels. So I loostened them a little bit, and I lightly pulled the brake lever, and it still had a good bit of tension, and the brake pads were not touching. So I took it for a little stroll, but after one or two times of about 50% braking, the line lost a little bit of tension. It was certainly better than before, but not enough to really help me on the trail. So I tightened a screw that was on the rear brake lever, and it pushed the lever outward, creating more tension. Again it still wasn't enough tension. Is there anything else I can do? The screw on the handle bars is as tight as I can get it, and I pulled the line out at the rear brake as much as possible with out the pads touching the rim. What do I do now?

I've read that kiln dried pine is safe to use as the high heat burns off the harmful phenols that the wood normally releases. However, cedar is NEVER ok. It's toxic no matter how it's dried, so I'd find out what's really in that softwood bedding. I personally wouldn't risk using any soft woods since there is such controversial and differing opinions on it. Aspen shouldn't cost much more, and it's safe, unless you're getting hairless rats in which case you'd need carefresh ultra or fleece :) good luck! Rats are great pets!

They are all still healthy, no arthritis or anything, and they've even been fed the cheap old ol' roy and others similarly as cheap from Walmart as their primary source of food when they're not being fed people food. If your dog(s) is/are small, I'd suggest doing a lot of research before conducting such experiments with their food, but if they are bigger dogs atleast 60 pounds or more, I wouldn't worry too much.

Disgusting smell on the floor will not go away!?

We live in a small apartment. There was, what we think, a spill of chicken juice from a bag of frozen chicken. We didn't realize it until about 24 hours later and the kitchen smelled like something DIED. It wasn't coming from the fridge, the sink, or anywhere that made sense. We realized it must be the floor. We have washed the floor about four times but the smell is still around. The windows have been open with a fan for ventilation. This has only brought in the flies and gnats. Is this good for guinea pigs?

I have 2 guinea pigs, and we just got pine pellets for them, and we read their perfectly healthy. But in the past couple days we've seen them chew on the pellets *theres dust left behind and we thought it was their urine but it isn't cause those things don't dissolve* and we even saw one of them chewing on it and we stopped him. Is this bad for them if they ingested them? Is there anything I can do to stop it? Was My Horse Spooked or Being Difficult?

Ok so I know you weren't there witness it so I'll try to describe it the best I can. So I have an extremely green horse. He's been riding for about a week now. He has a tendency to try to turn around when I'm riding him but I don't let him. So today I was riding him and when I was getting to the end of the pasture, he tried to turn around but I didn't let him. On the other side of the fence is five lines of pine trees and you can't even see through them. He was sort of looking in that direction and he had his head high but he wasn't flaring his nostrils. He tried to turn again but I turned him and then he backed up and tried to turn. He did this five or six times before I had him move. this time I turned him around and he jolted forward and he did look like he was scared and he never did this before. I calmed him down and the rest of the way back was fine. The thing that makes me think he was being difficult was the fact that he is sort of buddy sour. The other horses where way on the other side of the pasture but another thing that makes me think he was scared is that I can lead him all the way down the dirt road we live on and they will be out of sight. He would whinny back if they did and stop a couple times but he never tried to pull away. I also rode him in different parts of the pasture with no problem but just the fact of thinking of him just being difficult brings me down because I trained him all on my own with no help because no one would get a trainer. I've worked so hard and finally got him to be ride-able.

Thoughts about housing just one horse?

I leased a 24 yo Appaloosa mare for about a month and since then, I was given the option of buying her, which I am. Presently she is being boarded at a neighbor's barn, but it has always been my dream of not only owning my own horse, but housing it, too. I have been getting a lot of "flack" from my neighbor for wanting to bring my horse home to live. I understand that horses are herd animals, but I feel that she will get better care and much more attention if she is with me. Where she is now, I have no control over how much she is fed, when she is fed, how long she has to wait before being fed or even brought into the barn. In the spring her stall floods out and I have to buy extra bedding (I use pine pellets) just to keep her dry. Because my neighbors are afraid of being sued by anyone, I am not allowed to bring any family or friends up to see my horse. At home I have a German Shepherd, and he and my horse get along. My husband and 78 yo Mom want my horse brought here as well, so she will definitely be getting a lot of attention and this would be the only way for my mom to see her. I have no room or finances to keep any additional animals for company, but by no means will she spend her days completely alone. I'd appreciate your thoughts on this....

it really depends on the person. I think the reason most people rather text their bf/gf is because sometimes being on the phone restricts you from doing such activities that you want to do. She sneezes CONSTANTLY! Especially when she is just waking up. Every now and then she will be quiet and won't sneeze. I know this is bad of me but we had to get pine bedding. CareFresh is very expensive and we don't have the money to keep paying for it 1 or 2 a month. I had some extra CareFresh so I mixed it in with the pine. She was sneezing before we bought the pine bedding, but she has gotton worse ever since we put it in her cage. She eats normally but doesn't drink very often, I catch her drink every now and then but not very often. We can't take her to the vet because it cost alot of money. Cats inside at night?

I have the sweetest cat, I give him lots of attention, even though he doesn't pine for it, and he likes to laze around all day. Unfortunately, there have been a few incidents (not recently, though) where he urinated on beds/sofas in my house when let into any of these rooms alone. So I don't let him into my room at night, but he will sort of tap and run into my door, yowling for my attention. I can't let him into my room because he might pee on my bed. But I don't want to put him outside either, because it's too cold, and he will meow outside my window instead! He has the most irritating meow and this only occurs at night. Is he scared, or am I neglecting him? How can I get him to shut up and stop keeping everyone from sleeping? (My family an I moved house not long ago, at those times it's normal for cats to pee in those places. And yes, he's had the snip so he's not generally "spraying" anywhere.)

Floor Polyurethane and Furniture?

I want to apply polyurethane on my new pine floor. I have already sanded it and I have also used a red stain. I went to a theme park with two of my friends and while they were riding one of the rides I didn't want to I saw this girl sitting on a bench a few feet away from me. My dog was abused plz help me!?

Ok it all began with my 17 year old Husky mix becoming more and more weary of strangers, she would become anxiety provoked whenever strangers would approach her so I brought her to a trainer who was supposed to help intoduce her to new people and help her overcome her increasing fear of people. I want her to live her last years in peace. She is an old Katrina rescue; she's had nothing but a hard life and before Katrina was used sadly as a bait dog for fighting rings. She has lost one eye hence her name Popeye. She is extremely kind and loving despite the horrors of her past, i love her to death and i think she's the perfect dog on earth, she NEVER bit, snarled, bit or growled, NEVER, even when my nephew came over and accidently stepped on her tail, she whined and shyed away, i've never seen such tolerance from a pet, shes perfect in every way and i just wanted her to not have any more stresses or fears in her life, which is almost done sadly. I got her 4 years ago... Anyway i'll get to my point, i brought her to a trainer for 3 weeks along with my puppy brown lab for 3 weeks to help introduce her to strangers and train the lab named Farro. When i got back to pick them up my worst fears came true, i saw the trainer through the window kick, yank their collars very forcefully she even said in her defense if the dog doesn't sit when u yank it then u didn't do it hard enough. I was stunned, mortified and in utter horror and shock, i called the police and now have a pending lawsuit against this "trainer", my question is even though the dogs seem suprsigly ok right now, they seem fine but i'm scared to death that this will change their loving attitude toward strangers and new people or myself. I really love their frinedly dispositions and would love for them to remain friendly and happy, to stay who they are and not become fearful, shy, agressive or anxious. Do you think that dogs live in the moment and will forget this experince? I hope and pray to god every day now that they will and now a week after the thing happened they are just as loving and friendly as they were before this. This scares me a little as they seem unphased by this treatment and altough i'm grateful what can i do? I may lose my job because of the lawsuit and if i lose the sueing could come my way and i could run out of money because i'm on a tight budget but my morals on the treatment of animals are above my own job in my eyes... Anyway plz give me ur insight on whether u think they are fine since they behave just as loving and friendly or whether this has affected them? It just breaks my heart because both dogs don't need this at all, no dog (animal) does... Wood shavings are fine or just a towel if you are keeping them in a box till they are older..then they can be closed off in a space in a barn or protected area and need nothing special under their feet. I usually just kept old towels and rags beneath them when mine were small and in a box in the house to stay warm and then tossed the old towels and rags out when soiled. A couple of thicknesses of newspaper will work in the bottom of the box too..just something that can be pulled and changed easily and has a bit of absorbency..so just lay out some newspaper underneath them and that is cheap and works fine.

New false ceiling or restore and keep old wooden ceiling?

I have a huge 56m2 old wooden ceiling. I am about to replace it with a new false ceiling but now i have severe doubt as to whether that is the right decision. The wooden ceiling is covered with a thick brown paint. The original wood may be pine but im not sure. The wood needs replacing in a few places and there are gaps in between the planks. I have had gynecomastia for almost 3 years help?

Okay so i am turning 16 in november and ive had gynecomastia since i was about 13. ive read on numerous sources that it should go away within three years. however ive seen to significant changes or improvements. I am not overweight and i go to the gym a few times a week. i do eat unhealthy sometimes but hey who doesnt? i asked my doc a few months back about it she said it was one of the least serious cases of gyno shed ever seen and i should just wait it out. but with this 3 year mark approaching im starting to fear that my gyno will not go away with puberty. it isnt that big of a deal, it can be hidden pretty well with an undershirt alone but it does keep me from going to the beach, etc.. so my question is, is there anyway to help get this gynecomastia to go away? i read if you take zinc pills it can help reduce gyno because they help produce testosterone is this true?
