How do you go about getting to know a girl you go to church with?

I met this girl this week at church during a 20-30 year old bible study. She was really pretty and I was attracted to her, but I've always been a shy guy around everyone that I don't know very well. I want to get to know her better as a friend first, but I'm finding it hard to approach her. Any tips about how do do this without making it seem like I only want to date her? I'd ask my friends at school but they only do this sort of thing to sleep with girls, and I'm waiting until marriage to sleep with a girl.
