What is it like in jakarta indonesia?

I have a pen pal in jakarta and I want to visit there someday. They told me a little about it. It's polluted and horrible traffic. But besides that does anyone know anything else about jakarta? Food? Religion? type of dressing? Hotels? Tourism?
