Talking to a hot girl?

How do you let a hot girl know you're interested in them without coming off as the "creepy" guy because they've probably been approached by dozens upon dozens of guys before. I feel like I'm stuck because either these girls feel like I'm just being a friendly guy or I'm coming off as a creeper. Where's that nice middle area?
