The Power company killed the tree in my yard - do they have to remove it?

PSE&G (the power co.) came out to work on a pole in my yard, and the pole had vines growing on it, and they sprayed something to kill the vines, and it killed the pine tree next to it. It completely died and now it's a brown mess in the middle of my front yard. Are they responsible for removing or replacing it? (We're in NJ) If they refuse, can I take them to small claims court?
